There may be a lot of glitz and glam at the award shows, but director James Hawes is reminding fans of Showtime's Penny Dreadful that filming on location isn't just a walk in the park.

'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 Is 'Horrifying'

"I know I'm working on Penny Dreadful, but I'm sure a ghoul moved into my attic," tweeted Hawes on Wednesday. Previously he'd voiced concern about the apartment he's been renting while they shoot on location in Ireland, complaining of a "wet dog" smell.

"Apartment Day #3," he continued later that day, "Starting to think the dog smell may be wolf… May have to shoot the sofa with a silver bullet."

'Penny Dreadful' Star Eva Green Wants To Be More Than The 'Boring, Beautiful Girl'

It's possible Hawes has wolves on the brain for a reason. During the finale last season it was revealed that rumors about Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) being a werewolf turned out to be true. Perhaps the series will be seeing a little more wolf action in the first few episodes, which could be bleeding into Hawes' personal life.

The director has been busy on set this month, preparing locations and checking out the sets. On Wednesday he tweeted, "Actors arriving for fittings; lighting being rigged; scenes planned; settings being dressed."

Season 1 of the drama ended with Ethan Chandler's (Josh Hartnett) werewolf reveal, the murder of Bona Croft (Billie Piper), and the battle for Vanessa Ives' (Eva Green) soul.

Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second season in 2015.
