The father of Partition singer Beyonce made shocking claims regarding her marriage to rapper Jay Z amid rumors that they are headed for divorce.

Mathew Knowles, who was once Beyonce and girl group Destiny Child's manager, revealed that the couple utilized split speculation to boost their ticket sales for their On The Run tour.

He spoke with Houston's Roula & Ryan Show on 104.1 KRBE this week and candidly revealed his daughter and son-in-law's plan to use the rumors (as well as the elevator scandal in which Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles attacked Jay Z to their advantage). He also confessed that it wasn't the first time.

"I know, because we've done this. From experience, there's a tour going on. So you sometimes have to ignite that tour. It's called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot," he said.

As for elevator-gate, it became one of the most talked about incidents of the year. Leaked surveillance footage of Solange hitting, kicking and punching Jay Z on an elevator after a party for the Met Ball in New York in May. Beyonce and her security guard stood by. Mathew said that was also a part of their master plan.

"All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone's talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange's album sales went up 200 percent," he said.

To shut down any speculation that Mathew is speaking out as a father scorned after Beyonce fired him as her manager last year, he said they are still on good terms.

"We still talk every Sunday. She's still the humble, generous person that she's always been."
