There's a new detective in town! A new report has more information on guest star Peter Scanavino's new character during Law and Order SVU's Season 16 premiere.

Which Famous TV Mom Wants To Be On 'Law And Order SVU'?

TV Line reported last week that Scanavino will be playing Detective Dominick "Sonny" Carisi, Jr. The character was assigned to the Manhattan SVU in Season 16's premiere episode after working in other borough's SVU units.

Benson will have more than the new guy to deal with as the premiere also opens up with her as a mother to baby Noah.

Detective Amaro (Danny Pino) is currently undercover and not working with Benson, but his work starts involving people close to Noah's biological mother. This situation may put Benson's new baby Noah in danger.

Star Hargitay just filmed a new commercial for Wednesday's with her fellow NBC co-stars Sophia Bush (Chicago PD) and Debra Messing (The Mysteries of Laura). Messing had posted a picture of her and real life BFF Hargitay and wrote, "Hoping to kick some ass on #WomenCrushWednesday! @NBCLaura #SVU #themysteriesoflaura #nbc #mariska #BFFs #here'stoblowingyouaway"
