The VMAs are over and most of the people who watched Beyonce’s show-stopping performance close out the 2014 show (before her adorable moment with Jay and Blue) were coming down from their Yoncé-high, until the CR Fashion Book went and got everyone excited again by giving Queen Bey an early birthday gift—Amazing new pictures of herself.

Relive the Best Moments from Beyonce's VMA Performance

Covering the newest CR Fashion Book is a Beyoncé that fans rarely get to see. Though she still is wearing extensions and great face of make-up, her attitude is more edgy than usual. In the new photos, shot by renowned photographer Pierre Debusschere, Mrs. Carter wears various looks that most likely were not picked by Mama Tina or Ty Hunter.  Her hair is long, straight and wispy. Her stare is powerful, authoritative and confident.

This could be the return of her alter-ego Sasha Fierce, all grown up.

In the new issue, the Video Vanguard recipient penned a poem entitled “Bey The Light,” remixed by famed poet Forrest Gander. The two-page long piece addresses everything from when she met Sasha, the power of prayer, her role as a singer and of course it includes her feelings about the ever-adorable show-stealer, Blue-Blue.

She wrote, “It’s my daughter, she’s my biggest muse,” to begin. After her VMA performance, it’s easy to see why she is so in love with the vibrant 2-year-old, as she danced along to mommy’s “Flawless” performance on-stage.

To end the poem, she stated, “But for my daughter I dream a day/when no one roots for others to fail/when we all mean what we say.”

“Pain” and “loss” are used throughout the poem, and even though she has had an extremely successful year, the Queen Bey has dealt with an unforeseeable amount of drama this year. As if embarrassment of Elevatorgate wasn’t enough, her own father ,Mathew Knowles, may have made it even worse by implying that the entire thing was made up to boost ticket sales for On the Run.

Now that Beyoncé is a mother, it seems that this poem serves as a wish that her daughter won’t have to deal with all of the drama she’s dealing with now.
