An insider has revealed the real reason Solange Knowles skipped out on the MTV Video Music Awards before Beyonce hit the stage to perform and accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Source Says Blue Ivy Is Beyonce & Jay Z's 'Priority' Amid Split Rumors

When Knowles was spotted at the awards show, but was nowhere to be found when Beyonce performed her 13-minute set, rumor swirled that the sisters were still at odds after Knowles attacked Beyonce's husband on an elevator earlier this year.

It turns out Knowles was actually there to support her sister on her special night.

Solange, Jay Z & Beyonce Release Joint Statement After 'Elevator-Gate'

A source told Hollywood Life Wednesday, "Solange hung out backstage with her sister in her dressing room. She saw everyone and was backstage at the bar and saw Nicki [Minaj] and Taylor [Swift]...She was talking to everyone and she had a great time. She was there for a little bit."

There's also a logical explanation as to why she wasn't there during Beyonce's set list. The insider continued and said Knowles had to leave the annual event early to go work on her album. They also pointed out that Knowles and the Countdown singer's mom, Tina Knowles was also absent throughout the night.

"No one says anything about Tina not being there, and they aren't feuding. Solange was with her in the dressing room. And was in the hallway and she didn't go out and sit on the floor."

All also seems to be well between Solange and Jay Z despite her attack against him back in May after a Met Gala party in New York City. Solange was caught on surveillance video hitting, kicking and punching her brother-in-law. But in July, she met up with Bey and Jay at Kingfish during their New Orleans, La. stop for their On The Run tour.

A waitress for the restaurant told the site, "They were all really nice. They sat at the bar for a min. After about 20 minutes, Solange asked if they could get a table."
