While it is sometimes hard to separate the personalities of Robert Downey Jr. and his alter-ego Tony Stark, it seems like the star can have humbling moments and admit that his work isn't the best out there right now.

Could Iron Man Move To Another Franchise & Ditch His Own?

Speaking with The Toronto Sun on Wednesday, the Iron Man actor said that he now feels like Guardians of the Galaxy is the best movie Marvel has made so far.

"Galaxy in some ways is the best Marvel movie ever," Downey said. "And it's odd for someone with, on occasion, an ego the size of mine to actually say that!"

One 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Character Almost Looked Very Different

Downey went on to elaborate on how crazy it is that the movie was so successful after coming from source material that just about everyone had not heard of.

"We're talking about how the Iron Mans and the Thors and the Captain Americas and the Avengers movies have afforded Marvel the opportunity to essentially take what was a third-tier, minor, kind of upstart bit of potential from one of their comic books series and say: 'Look!'" Downey said.

He used a football metaphor to convey the fact that Guardians came out of nowhere and took the movie world by storm.

"It's like you have a great quarterback, and his brother plays for another team, and then you say: 'Look, this is their second cousin and we think he has a great arm and he should start,'" Downey said. "And then he goes and wins the Superbowl!"

Guardians of the Galaxy is in theaters now while Downey Jr. will be in the next Marvel movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
