The Castle show runner is aware of the disappointment fans of the ABC series felt in the Season 6 finale, but he is suggesting that Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) will find their happiness.

Castle Producers 'Working' On Esposito & Lanie Relationship

David Amann, the new show runner of Castle, spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the fiery car wreck that prevented Castle and Beckett from marrying in the Season 6 finale.

"We understand there's disappointment," Amann admitted. "We're committed to the Castle-Beckett relationship. Over the course of season 7, their relationship will continue to blossom and grow, and perhaps some of the things that people might have wanted to see in season 6 may present themselves a little bit later."

Rick & Beckett Facing Problems Together When Castle Returns

This suggests that the Castle-Beckett wedding will finally occur at some point in Season 7, though it may not be for a while.

Even Fillion wants the two to get married already, as he previously suggested to TVLine.

"We made people wait a long time for these two people to finally get together. Now they're together, how much longer can we make people wait for a wedding I think becomes my question," he said. "You don't want people to become bored in the waiting."

He also noted, "We certainly have a point of 'okay, what now?' We've covered some ground as far as the two characters coming together, pulling apart," saying that it is "so far, so good" in the first few episodes of Season 7.

Castle Season 7 premieres Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
