With Gwen Stacy now out of the picture for Peter Parker heading into the next Spider-Man movie, it looks like a new girl will be the eye of affection for the superhero. But could a star from the first two movies re-appear as Mary Jane Watson?

One Villain In 'Sinister Six' Could Be Set Up For Expansion In 'Amazing Spider-Man 3'

On Tuesday, MoviePilot speculated a few actresses who could take on the role of Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 with one name re-appearing from earlier entries.

The first name was Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars star Shailene Woodley, who left the Spider-Man franchise to star in the young adult adaptation. Woodley filmed a few scene for director Marc Webb before having them cut when the role was substantial enough and she left to make Divergent.

Could The 'Sinister Six' Plot Center Around Individual Fights With Spider-Man?

Woodley has already tested well for the role but her own franchises will most likely keep her from joining the next Spider-Man movie.

The next name is True Blood star Deborah Ann Woll, who bears the iconic red hair look needed. The only issue with this actress, according to MoviePilot, is that she has a committed role in the Marvel Netflix show, Daredevil, and could cause a conflict in time and being in other Marvel properties.

Wolf of Wall Street and Tarzan actress Margot Robbie is another possibility since the actress is only 24 years old and is looking for a big franchise to latch onto. The site says though that having her with Parker's dorky demeanor wouldn't make much sense.

But the final possibility may be a reach as the site names Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacy in the previous two films, as a possibility. The actress has already teased a return in some capacity, but a complete re-cast may be too crazy of an idea.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is set to open in theaters in 2018.
