Supernatural's Demon Dean will raise some hell in season 10, but the twisted character wasn't easy for Jensen Ackles to bring to screen.

What Is The State Of Heaven In 'Supernatural' Season 10? Jeremy Carver Explains

Unlike Jared Padalecki's Sam, Dean (Jensen Ackles) doesn't often deviate from his standard character. Jumping into a totally different version of the elder Winchester brother, particularly while directing, proved a challenge for Ackles.

"It was very difficult because it was Dean but it wasn't Dean, and it was a twisted version of Dean," Ackles explained at VanCon. "So, yes, to navigate that and to keep those lines somewhat clear in my mind was difficult. It's not something I've had to do before. So I struggled with it a little bit."

Luckily for fans, this new Dean will bring a little extra excitement to the series. With no moral compass, it seems like halcyon days have finally come for the hunter.

"It's fun because he ends up being too much for Crowley to handle, so to speak," Ackles told TV Line. "It's like an ultra version of a womanizing party animal. He's out partying in Vegas with the King of Hell, he's got backstage passes and he doesn't give a sh-t about anything."
