Warner Brothers released two trailers to promote their next superhero film, "The Man of Steel."

The "Man of Steel" trailers and the image on the official website suggest there may be a darker side of Superman revealed than previous versions.

Director Zachary Snyder explained the new direction of the reboot: "We had to act as if no film has been made," he told an audience at Comic Con. "When we approached it, we had to say 'this is Superman for the first time.'"

"Man of Steel" is a reboot of the Superman franchise and will be played by Henry Cavill. The British actor is known for his starring role on Showtime's "The Tudors."

The movie company acquired Christopher Nolan to executive produce the reboot after he had phenomenal success with the "Batman" trilogy.

Snyder is known for directing the hit films "Watchmen" and "300."

Warner Brothers assigned writer-director Bryan Singer to pen the script after he had success with "Superman Returns" (2006).

"Man of Steel" trailers were first previewed at Comic Con at a panel with Cavill and Snyder.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer was considered so good it made one audience member cry.

"(I) have great respect for the canon and the mythology of Superman...it's a mashing of stories," Snyder told the audience. "It's about making him work and making him cool."

"I just wanted to bring as much of the modern Superman into the world," Caville told the audience. "You guys know everything about him. You're there through thick and thin. This is for everyone else out there. To bring him to the modern world that everyone can associate with."

The two trailers have the same footage but offer voice-overs by two other stars that appear in the upcoming film. The first, which appeared on Yahoo, was narrated by Kevin Costner, who plays Superman's father Jonathan Kent. The second, which debuted on MSN, is narrated by Russell Crowe who plays his biological father Jor-El.

"Man of Steel" will arrive in theaters June 14, 2013.
