He has finally decided on which DC character he will play in the upcoming Shazam movie and it looks like The Rock will be going the anti-hero route for the first time in his career.

DC Registers Four Domains Meaning Aquaman, Wonder Woman & Shazam Are A Go?

Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that he would be playing Black Adam in the Shazam movie for Warner Bros. The actor was choosing between that character and the lead role of Shazam.

Variety added to the report saying that Goosebumps and Jack the Giant Slayer writer Darren Lemke is set to write the screenplay for the film, which according to rumors, will come out in either 2016 or 2017.

'Sherlock' Star Rumored To Appear In 'Justice League'

Johnson has long been teasing a role in a DC movie, with the Shazam rumors surfacing prior to Comic-Con. The role of Black Adam will be a different one for the actor, who has usually stuck to more good guy roles, as the character more inhibits the anti-hero appeal and is actually the adversary to Shazam.

With the role of Shazam still up in the air, it would be assumed that the movie would still be behind Wonder Woman and Aquaman, who have their leads, and are working towards either 2016 or 2017 release dates in anticipation for Justice League.

It would also be assumed that Johnson would appear in some capacity or cameo role for Justice League to tease the Shazam movie, even though he isn't the main hero.

Justice League is set to open in theaters in 2017.
