Austin Mahone has millions of female fans, but one recently popped up on the red carpet of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. Mahone revealed that pop superstar Katy Perry gave the 18-year-old a very special hello.

Mahone shared with Cleveland.com on Wednesday that the two ran into each other during the VMA red carpet. "I was on the red carpet and said hello to Katy Perry, and she turned and said hi," Mahone said. "Then she did a double take, looked at me and said hi again in, like, a flirty voice. It was pretty amazing."

Mahone is currently busy on his summer headlining tour with Fifth Harmony, The Vamps and Shawn Mendes. Although Mahone is having a great time, the Mmm Yeah singer shared that he wants to take it to the next level.

Mahone was previously an opener along with Ed Sheeran on Taylor Swift's Red Tour.

"Being on tour with Taylor Swift, I just took away how hard she's probably worked to get to that point," Mahone said. "It made me realize I have a lot of work ahead of me and I'm ready go in."

Mahone's next tour stop is Friday in St. Louis, Mo. After his tour, the singer will go back to the studio to finish his first full-length album. "I have one EP out now and the reaction has been great," Mahone said. "After the tour I'm going back to Miami to work on my first full length. I'm excited to start recording."
