Ever since Jamaican-born singer Tessanne Chin won The Voice last December, her music career has taken her to places she once only dreamed of.

The season-five winner performed at Hot 97's On Da Reggae Tip in New York City over Labor Day weekend and she will soon serenade the crowd at the Miss Universe China pageant on Sept. 13 as well as New York's Highline Ballroom in October.

"Life has changed in every way possible," Chin told Enstars. "It's been a very wonderful experience and the amazing opportunities that I wouldn't have had are just far beyond anything that I could have imagined."

Chin, 28, auditioned for the hit NBC competition show after her good friend and reggae star Shaggy convinced her to. At first, Chin was hesitant and unsure if she'd be accepted by the American audience. Yet, her Caribbean heritage only added to her appeal. Now, the star has nothing but positive words to say about the show that bolstered her career.

Although all four coaches - Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton - turned their chairs around during her audition, Chin chose Levine, who told her that day she could "easily win The Voice."

"He was very invested and took the time to make sure we were choosing the right songs. It wasn't just another job for him. I never felt that from him," Chin said of the Maroon 5 frontman. "He's continued to support me so I really appreciate that."

In fact, Levine even promoted Chin's major-label debut, Count on My Loveto his millions of social media followers after it was released on July 1. The uplifting album, which flaunts Chin's impeccable vocal ability, was recorded under a strict time frame.

"There was definitely a time limit that we had to work with because when you're coming off a show like The Voice there's a momentum you need to stay with," she explained.

The time restraint also prevented Chin from collaborating with other artists on the album. In the future, she hopes to make music with Levine as well as "strong, powerful women" like Beyonce and Celine Dion. Chin would also love to work with her older sister Tami Chynn, who has taken a break from music to focus on motherhood.

Count on My Love features power ballads, upbeat tunes and motivational tracks like One Step Closer. It also conveys a universal memo.

"I think the album is about love," she said. "It's also about love for yourself, love for life and trying to see the silver lining no matter what. That's where my head was at and I think that message came through."
