It looks like one of the characters from Downton Abbey may not be sticking around for that long.

'Downton Abbey' Season 5 To Take On A New Style?

On Wednesday, Daily Mail mentioned that Daisy Lewis, who plays Sarah Bunting on the series, might have to leave the show since she got herself an acting gig in the United States.

"I'm moving over to America for a bit and it's all most exciting," the actress told the Madrake column in Daily Telegraph.

Lady Edith Will Go Through A 'Horrible Time' On 'Downton Abbey' Season 5?

As exciting as this is for her, it's possible that some fans will be disappointed if this means the end of Sarah on the series. She mentioned that she just heard the news and "we'll have to see" what that means for her place in the British drama.

There are a number of possibilities for this situation. Sarah could be written off the series because she finds something or someone else, or she could even wind up dead. It's also possible that she might be able to make brief appearances here and there if Lewis is willing to put up with that. But there's also a chance that she won't have to leave at all and the writers will be able to work something out.

Lewis had also mentioned to The Telegraph that her character might become Tom Branson's new love interest next season although that would be a pretty big challenge.

"It's hard to be able to be with somebody and make a commitment to them when your first love is your work," the actress said. "It's a special person who will put up with that."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in the United States in January 2015 on PBS.
