Miranda Lambert may have beat out husband and fellow country artist Blake Shelton for CMA nominations this year, but the couple hasn't let that get in the way of their marriage. In fact, they couldn't be happier for one another.

Truth About Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert $1 Million Show

On Thursday Shelton spoke to People about his wife's reaction to the nods. "She got up early and went some place out of the city to ride horses and on her way she found out about the nominations and called me," explained the singer of his wife, noting that the both of them had been in New York during the announcement.

"I said, 'What did I get?' And she told me two or three things," Shelton continued, "Then I said, 'Well, what did you get?' and she said, 'Oh, nine."

2014 CMA Nominations

He admitted that his wife seemed a little embarrassed about the achievement. When he claimed her nominations must be a new record, she reluctantly told him that it was tied with the number she'd gotten in 2013.

"If it was anybody else, she probably wouldn't even talk about it," added Shelton, who claimed that his wife had sounded a little "embarrassed" about her nods. "But with me she's pretty excited."

Lambert isn't the only one excited. Shelton is proud of his wife's achievement, joking that he has no idea where they'd put all those trophies if she did win them all. "It's just unbelievable," he said. "She's this unique individual that's not like anybody else and it's cool to see her be recognized for that."

The 28th Annual CMA Awards will air live on ABC November 5, 2014.
