Last month Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss seemed like a strong contender to join the cast of HBO's True Detective for Season 2. The longer casting remains unconfirmed, however, the more it seems like Moss might not make the cut after all.

'True Detective' Guards Casting Decisions

On Sunday True Detective Rumors voiced some concern over the recent Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls, State of Play) debate. It seems that Moss and McAdams could be up for the same role and the possibility of McAdams replacing Moss has fans wondering whether or not some of the other rumored leads will really make it to production.

Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks) and Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Into the Wild) were two of the biggest names rumored to be staring alongside Moss. This same theory also placed Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch in the cast, but if Moss is in fact no longer in the picture, or perhaps never was, then maybe these actors won't be starring on the hit drama either.

'True Detective' Season 2 Spoilers

As fans continue to speculate as to who will ultimately appear on the series, they've also begun to question the return of some of Season 1's most prominent contributors. Creator Nic Pizzolatto is still set to write the entire season, but with director Cary Joji Fukunaga out its possible some others could be too.

True Detective Rumors considered the return of famed composer T Bone Burnett, whose score was used for Season 1. With a change in setting and style, it's possible the HBO program could also be looking for a new sound.

Production for True Detective is set to begin this month, but with so many elements still undetermined, it is difficult to know where exactly the show will start.

True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in 2015.
