However, the 73-year-old won't star as his original character Brad Eliot, whom he portrayed in the '70s. The actor will instead play a truck driver who helps Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) return to Genoa City, TV Guide reported on Monday.

The scene pays homage to the long-running soap's first episode ever, which showed Brad catching a ride with a stranger in a truck.

"They found the same kind of truck and dug out the old script - only now I have the truck driver's dialogue and Gina has mine," Hallick told the magazine. "It was weird recreating the scene that way, but really pretty wonderful."

Hallick said he was asked to return to the show without even having a meeting with executives. He also admitted that he regretted leaving the show years ago.

"I was winning 'best actor' awards from TV by Day and Daytime TV - the big fan magazines of the time - and it all went to my head," he explained. "NBC kept coming to me with these offers to work for them for a lot more money and I was very brash and impatient so I left Y&R. In retrospect, it was a very bad idea."
