On September 8, ScreenCrush reported that the sequels for Terminator: Genisys will release on May 19, 2017 and June 19, 2018.

In April it was revealed thatTerminator 5: Genesis is not a stand alone in the iconic franchise and will be followed by two more instalments which will be tied to the film. Jai Courtney To Go Full Frontal As Kyle Reese In Terminator: Genisys?

In a press release made by Skydance Productions, the film was being tagged as a stand-alone. The producers behind the movie revealed that the trilogy would be a new start of sorts while paying homage to the iconic franchise. But this also seems to corroborate various allusions to the fact that the film will essentially work off of the James Cameron films, The Terminator and Terminator: Judgment Day.

Terminator: Genisys is being directed by Alan Taylor and also stars Jai Courtney, who will be playing Kyle Reese, and Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor. Sandrine Holt (House of Cards) will be playing Detective Cheung, who will "arrest Kyle and Sarah when they arrive in 2017."

Terminator 5 is scheduled to release in July 2015.
