A startling new report cited scientific research revealing that Michael Bay films, and particularly those from the Transformers franchise, might actually be unhealthy for viewers.

All New Cast To Be Lined Up For Age of Extinction Sequel?

Entertainment Weekly reported, via a study conducted at Cornell, that Bay's films were not good for health as they caused the viewer to snack more while watching them. The movies were weighed by their calorie content, i.e. how many calories the viewer consumes during the movie.

EW drew a hilarious comparison between Transformers and Richard Linklater's Boyhood:

Transformers 5 Release Pushed to Summer 2017?

"Anyhow, now we can state with some scientific basis that watching all three hours of Trans4mers is the caloric equivalent of, like, 15 Boyhoods. So if you don't feel like working out, just watch an independent movie."

So we can safely assume that Transformers fans must have recently put on some weight after watching Age of Extinction.

Age of Extinction stars Michael Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Stanley Tucci. The sequel for the movie has been fraught with uncertainty s Bay recently revealed that he most likely won't be coming on board for Transformers 5 and would pass the baton to another director. There has also been no confirmation of the main star cast reprising their roles for the next in what was meant to be a trilogy.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
