Gemma Haunted By Tara In Final Season of Sons of Anarchy

In the premiere episode, titled Black Widower, Jax will find himself ready for revenge in honor of Tara's (Maggie Siff) death in the Season 6 finale. He is in jail in the premiere, where he meets some colorful characters, including white supremacist Ron Tully (Marilyn Manson).

The premiere will be one hour and 45 minutes long, lasting until 11:45 p.m. This will immediately be followed by the Sons of Anarchy after-show Anarchy Afterword, hosted by comedian Chris Franjola.

Anarchy Afterword will feature interviews with Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter as well as Hunnam and Katey Sagal, who plays Gemma on the series.

Hunnam and Sutter spoke with USA Today recently about the final season, focusing on Jax's story arc. Jax will apparently find himself caught up in a quest for vengeance, having lost Tara, his moral compass.

"He has to be a full-on outlaw if he's going to survive this little war he seems to have found himself in the middle of," Hunnam said. "The only way to do that is to be more brutal, smarter and quicker than everybody else, beat them all to the punch." However, "anger and vengeance is a very confused place to be operating from. I think Jax is very lost and is not seeing things clearly at all right now."

Sutter added that part of the "tragic irony" of the final season is Jax coming back to his mother Gemma for comfort. As Sutter noted, Gemma is actually the cause of his grief, with his mother brutally murdering Tara in the Season 6 finale, yet Jax is still unaware.

Assuming Jax does eventually find out, Sutter said "it will not happen in any way that people expected it to happen."

Sons of Anarchy's final season begins Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
