The parents of country music star, Taylor Swift, have divorced after 25 years of marriage, reports claim. Andrea and Scott Swift were going through a long rocky period. However, a family insider says Andrea's time away on tour with Taylor did not help mend their relationship.

"Andrea being on tour with Taylor full-time has really been hard on her relationship with Scott," the source claims.

The parents of Taylor and Austin, the singer's younger brother, have allegedly been separated for two years, but did not want to disclose the information. One reason for the silence was to protect Taylor's exploding music career.

"The Swift's stopped wearing their wedding rings," an insider said speaking to Star. "They haven't filed for a divorce because they don't want it to damage Taylor's career."

Taylor Swift appeared at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards recently and did not seem as if she was experiencing any distress. Although the singer, who took home 5 awards that night, seemed cheerful, sources say she is actually enduring lots of family issues.

"She's been going through a lot," said Star's source. "The new album will showcase the pain of her parents' separation."

Heartache and family distress was hinted at when Swift was asked about the lyrics to songs on her next album.

"They're sad, if I'm being honest," Swift responded.

Swift is a Grammy winning country music artist. Her latest album, "Speak Now," sold over one million copies in one week. She has also been featured in hit films including "The Lorax," and "Valentine's Day."
