After opening up about her marriage with Portia de Rossi on her talk show premiere, Ellen DeGeneres joked with her wife about another celebrity's birthday on Twitter.

On Tuesday, DeGeneres tweeted Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet in honor of his birthday. "Happy birthday, @EricStonestreet! Yesterday, Portia and I were walking down a stone street and we thought of you. There was a dog named Eric"

On Monday during her premiere monologue, DeGeneres talked about the split rumors between her and de Rossi that had been plaguing the couple. "I had a great summer," DeGeneres said. "I went on a trip with Portia, my beautiful wife."

The camera then showed de Rossi sitting in DeGeneres' audience. DeGeneres continued about Portia, "who I am happily married to, but thank you for your heartfelt concern, tabloids."

Previously, DeGeneres had also tweeted about Stonestreet's co-star Sofia Vergara, despite reports de Rossi was jealous of her friendship with DeGeneres. After the 2014 Emmy awards, DeGeneres joked on Twitter,  "Congratulations, "Modern Family!" They said America wasn't ready, but you proved them wrong. Of course, I'm talking about @SofiaVergara."

In June, OK! Magazine reported that de Rossi was jealous about Vergara being close with her wife. "Portia has always thought Ellen was a little too touchy-feely with Sofia," the OK! source said. "They've fought about it before, but Ellen convinced Portia she was blowing the situation out of proportion and that the women were just good friends."
