It looks as though Scandal fans might finally have the answer as to where Olivia Pope has been hiding all summer long. A new trailer suggests that Olivia Pope might be on a deserted island, following last season's mysterious finale.

In the clip, Kerry Washington can be seen in character while relaxing on a beach with a glass of red wine in one hand. On Season 3's finale, Olivia ditched President Fitz and was last seen on a private jet with Jake, which was chartered by her murderous dad.

Meanwhile, back in July, Washington opened up about what fans can expect for this next season of the hit ABC drama.

She told author Demetria Lucas at the 2014 BlogHer convention, "Well I now know where the plane was going, I wish I could tell you 'cause it's really good. I can't tell you because I would give it away. The way the last season ended
 what happens to Olivia Pope is kind of what you would do to a character you were writing off of the show. It is like a reset button has been pushed. Last season, I feel like Olivia stepped away from it all to try to take some control over her life. So the new season picks up here."

She also talked about what made her sign on for the show, adding, "I wasn't really looking to do a network television show. I really liked my film career. But then my agent told me it was Shonda [Rhimes]. I was looking for a role that had that kind of three-dimensionality. My interest in politics and human rights and then I got to the last 3 pages of the script, it was like oh my gosh she slept with the president? And then I was hooked and I really wanted the role. So then I auditioned and begged and pleaded and I got it."

Scandal returns September 25 at 9 p.m. EST/PST on the ABC Network.
