With Marvel becoming a cultural icon and big money brand, maybe it isn't the best thing to step on the feet of the fans who have made it that popular. But that doesn't seem to phase one Ant-Man star from having some choice words for comic book fanatics.

One 'Ant-Man' Character Is Ditching His Costume For The Movie

Michael Douglas talked comic books with Vulture on Wednesday and had some things to say about the fandom that surrounds this enterprise.

"Most of it is these weird geeky, 40-, 50-year-olds, guys who were comics addicts when they were kids. I remember reading a few comics when I was a kid, but not like these people! I don't know where these people come from," Douglas said.

"They kind of remind me of Ken Kesey up in Oregon, macrobiotic freaks coming out of the mountains bare-footed. Who are these people? It was an education."

While that may of not been the nicest way to comment on a group of people, Douglas added that he respects what Marvel is doing and loved one recent movie in particular.

"Marvel has got it down to a science, pretty much, and they've got kind of a phenomenal track record," Douglas said.

"I love this picture they did this summer, Guardians of the Galaxy. It's really good! I think that's given Marvel the confidence to step out in this whole new area, so I'm looking forward to adding to it."

Douglas also said he would be starting work on Ant-Man on Thursday so the first images of him there could be surfacing soon. The film opens on July 17, 2015.
