Season 18 Bachelor stars Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell may smile for the cameras, but recently the pair revealed that their relationship would not have lasted if they hadn't appeared on VH1's reality series Couples Therapy.

Former 'Bachelor' Disses Media 'Circus'

"We're so glad we did [Couples Therapy]," declared Galavis in Us Weekly on Thursday. "I don't think we'd be together right now if we hadn't done it."

Galavis, 33, and Ferrell, 27, starred on ABC's The Bachelor, during which time Galavis surprised fans by offering Ferrell the "final rose" without a proposal of marriage or even an "I love you."

According to Galavis, concern for his five-year-old daughter Camila has always been a top priority. "The mane issue I had was I'd never introduced my daughter to my girlfriend…" explained Galavis. "I didn't know how to handle it. Like, if I said 'girlfriend' and we broke up, then another girlfriend…I didn't want that."

"It's intense," continued Galavis in discussing his time on the VH1 program. "I never thought it was gonna be that way. You learn so much about yourself and the things that hurt somebody that you didn't even realize."

Recently the couple took a romantic trip to Bali, though they did not reveal the location of their destination until halfway through the trip. When they returned back to the United States last week they did so to their different home states. With Ferrell in Missouri and Galavis in Floriday, they continue to maintain separate spaces.

The reality stars will continue to appear on VH1s Couples Therapy as new episodes of the fifth season air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
