Julianne Hough may be a permanent judge on ABC's Dancing With the Stars now but that doesn't mean she'll be giving her brother Derek Hough a free pass.

Speaking with Access Hollywood this week, Julianne was asked to share a bit of criticism for Derek in preparation for her new judging role.

"Sometimes he needs some show," she said, "sometimes you need a little bit of pizzazz."

This was in reference to her and Derek's recent tour in which he would sometimes get too technical with his dance moves without including the requisite showmanship.

Going into Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars, in which Derek is partnered with YouTube sensation Bethany Mota, Julianne said that she will be the opposite of what cynical fans are expecting her to be.

"By the way - people are afraid about me judging my brother? I'm going to be even harder on him!" she quipped.

Derek may have to watch out for her sister based on previous guest judging appearances she has made on the show. In Season 17, she criticized Mark Ballas after his dance with Christina Milian, telling her that sometimes it's hard to stand out with Ballas as your partner, suggesting that he shows off too much.

In Season 18, Julianne returned during the Switch Up week, in which the celebrities switched pro partners with each other. Danica McKellar was given Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who had previously been working with Meryl Davis. Julianne said after McKellar and Chmerkovskiy's dance that it seemed like the latter was "phoning in" the dance so that he could get back to Davis.

Julianne joins longtime judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli when Dancing With the Stars begins Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m ET/PT on ABC.
