A new report strongly hints at the fact that the plot for season 3 of House of Cards will deal with Russia on the foreign affairs front.

Doug Stamper To Return In Season 3?

What lends credence to the Air Herald report is a press release for the Netflix series that was revealed earlier this month and stated that Russian actors were being hired for season 3. The inclusion of Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, from the feminist punk band, Pussy Riot, was also confirmed

City Paper, a local Baltimore publication reported that the Russian band will feature in the Netflix series on August 8. The publication cited two inside sources from the show, which is currently being filmed in Maryland.

House of Cards Responds To Emmy Rejection With Spoof Featuring Doug Stamper

"Nadezhda and Maria from Pussy Riot were on set, and are in season 3 of HoC," one of the sources tipped off the publication.

If this is true, it could have been motivated by a recent incident. House of Cards didn't get permission to film in the official UN headquarters in New York because the Russian representative did not consent. Pussy Riot are eblematic of rebelling against authority and have been the crusaders of dissent in Russia, having been put behind bars for the same. Perhaps the show will also feature America's dealings with Russia and the Putin's hostile attitude to Big Brother, highlighting the Ukrainian conflict.

Beau Willimon is the writer and director of the show, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.

The third season of House of Cards is currently filming in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.
