The View's season 18 premiered on Monday with its newest additions - Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace - and with well wishes from creator Barbara Walters.

"Hello and welcome to the newer view," returning co-host Whoopi Goldberg told the audience in reference to The View's smaller new studio.

Rosie O'Donnell, who was a co-host on the ABC talk show from 2006 to 2007, appeared barefoot due to sciatica and updated viewers on her life since her stint on the show. The 52-year-old suffered a heart attack in 2012, got married for the second time that year and also adopted a baby girl last year.

Perez, an actress and activist, seemed delighted to be a part of the show. "I'm sitting here with three fabulous women and I'm loving life," she said.

Wallace, former communications chief during George W. Bush's presidency, was quick to make a joke saying, "I'm a Republican; we should get that out of the way."

O'Donnell quipped, "And, I really like her. I swear to God."

O'Donnell's response relates to the moment she famously had a heated argument with fellow co-host at the time Elisabeth Hasselbeck about U.S. conflict in Iraq.

During The View's premiere, the hosts tackled recent news topics like Ray Rice's domestic violence incident and Adrian Peterson's child abuse case. They also paid tribute to Joan Rivers and Robin Williams, who both recently passed away. And, unlike the hostility between O'Donnell and Hasselbeck, the new cast seems to get along.
