YouTube sensation Bethany Mota has become a popular hit on the web although her life was not always that easy growing up.

YouTube Music Awards 2013 Chatter

Mota graces the cover of Seventeen for the October issue where she talked about how bullying helped make her the success she is today by turning to YouTube for support. She revealed that there was a time when she wasn't as original, but that all changed when she decided to do things her own way.

"It was so cool seeing other girls being positive and spreading happiness," the video personality said. "At first, I made beauty videos that were like everyone else's- I'd try to act perfect. But then I realized it might be more fun if I was just myself. So I showed my silly side and kept in the bloopers. I liked those videos way more, and people appreciated that realness."

When it comes to dealing with people who are disrespectful, Mota gave some advice on how one can handle a situation like that in a mature manner.

"I say do not respond with hate because you might make that person feel terrible, and you feel terrible," she said. "So who wants that? Respond with positivity or just ignore it and don't let it get to you. And focus on all those positive comments."

The YouTube sensation admitted that she is still figuring herself out and finding her way.

"When I was going through YouTube and making videos, I didn't really have anyone to look at like, 'Okay, this is what I'm going to do,'" she said. "It kind of just happened on my own."
