Hannibal's notorious cannibal will head to Italy in season 3, and series creator Bryan Fuller may work the 'Monster of Florence' into the storyline.

Shocking 'Twists & Turns' Promised For 'Hannibal' Season 3, Bryan Fuller Explains

A real life cannibalistic murderer, Pietro Pacciani, a.k.a the 'Monster of Florence,' served as inspiration for Thomas Harris' original novels and a reference for the later films. Now that Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) will be in the same region, there is a chance that Fuller could reference the 'Monster of Florence' as well.

"We've been thinking about Il Mostro," Fuller teased, according to Crave Online.

Hannibal has the option of creating the Italian cannibal as a separate character, but there is always a chance Fuller may ascribe the nickname to Hannibal himself. After all,  TV Guide announced that Dr. Lecter will indeed be stalking another victim when the psychological thriller returns next summer.

Unfortunately for Hanni, the Italians will pick up on search for ingredients far quicker than the FBI.

"Although the [Hannibal and Bedelia] poses as husband and wife while Hannibal stalks a new victim, it won't be long before one of the locals discovers the murderous truth about Dr. Lecter," teased TV Guide. "Even worse, I hear Bedelia could be the reason the cat gets out of the bag!"
