While the logistics with the possible star of the film are still getting in order, it seems like a release date and shooting location for the adaptation of the Sorcerer Supreme is coming soon to be apart of Marvel's Phase 3.

Rumored 'Doctor Strange' Actor Having Second Thoughts About Joining Marvel

According to reports by Screen Daily on Wednesday, production on Marvel's Doctor Strange will begin later this fall with an anticipated shooting period of May 2015 for the cosmic film. The report added that the film will have a July 2016 release date.

There was no word on if Joaquin Phoenix had agreed to star in the film as the actor has been directly linked to the picture since Comic-Con but has been having reservations about joining a blockbuster film.

Joaquin Phoenix In Final Negotiations For Lead Role In Marvel's 'Doctor Strange'

With a shooting and release date set, it would seem that Marvel has moved along with negotiations on Phoenix and an announcement could be coming soon or both have moved on and the studio swooped in on their second pick.

Pinewood Studios has been a home to multiple Marvel and Disney films of late with Star Wars: Episode VII currently shooting there, Avengers: Age of Ultron filming at the Sherrington location earlier this year, and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass in production now at that same location.

The film follows Steven Strange, a former neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.

Doctor Strange will be directed by Deliver Us From Evil director Scott Derrickson with a script from Jon Spaihts. Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote on earlier drafts for Marvel.
