While Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg have teased the massive scale of the next installment in the X-Men franchise, one thing that fans are wondering is if anyone will die, and stay dead instead of pulling the timeline back like in the last one.

Is A Fan Favorite X-Men Character Getting His Standalone Movie Teased At The End Of 'Apocalypse?'

While many X-Men perished during Days of Future Past, they were fine in the end after the timeline was saved by the younger team. But in Apocalypse, could some mutants go down and never come back?

In the comics, a host of X-Men die over the course of the story including names that are already confirmed for the next movie including: Professor Xavier, Quicksilver, Mystique and Magneto with a host of rumored names like Gambit, Colossus and Rogue.

While it would seem like a bad move for Fox to let the filmmakers kill off most of the characters, including all of these that are fan favorites, there could be some destruction that they can't fix during the course of the movie and maybe some smaller roles like Colossus or Bishop could be perishing for good.

The move to kill off a big character as a sort of rallying cry has worked for Marvel and The Avengers, but not so much with X-Men after killing Professor Xavier in The Last Stand ended in fans being upset and the incarnation played by Patrick Stewart being revived for the most recent entry.

But it would also allow the franchise to maybe add some new characters without having the have a complete overload of people showing up. Some smaller roles could be filled and allow new actors the chance to make an impact like Quicksilver in Days of Future Past.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
