With the villain team-up happening in Sinister Six, it would seem that there is room for one more famous Spider-Man bad guy to help the team of evil get together. But with that character joining could that mean the reveal of who's playing the editor-in-chief of The Daily Bugle will come also?

How Much Will The 'Sinister Six' Affect The Story In 'Amazing Spider-Man 3?'

One villain who could appear with the Sinister Six is Scorpion, a famous Spider-Man foe who has had a run with the team during outside comic book adaptations of the series.

In the comics, Mac Gargan was a private investigator who was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to find out how Peter Parker was able to obtain the photos of Spider-Man. When Spider-Man evaded Gargan, J. Jonah Jameson decided to use Gargan as a test subject for an experiment done by Farley Stillwell which led to Gargan becoming the Scorpion in order to defeat Spider-Man.

Is This Villain Headed To 'Sinister Six' To Set Up A Standalone Movie?

Many years later, Gargan becomes a host for the Venom symbiote. After the Venom symbiote was removed from him in the aftermath of the Siege storyline, Gargan was sprung from the Raft by Alistair Smythe and outfitted with a new Scorpion suit.

Two names that have surfaced in the Spider-Man universe so far could play a role in the villain team-up movie if they use their back story. One being Alistair Smythe, who is seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and played by B.J. Novak, who could have a larger role after being introduced in a previous movie.

The other is J. Jonah Jameson, who has been hinted at multiple times, but has yet to be seen within the universe. While rumors of J.K. Simmons returning are out there, it would seem like a perfect way to introduce the character prior to him formally meeting Peter Parker.

Sinister Six is set to open on November 6, 2016.
