While a number of high profile actors are keeping quiet as to whether or not their rumored involvement in True Detective's second season on HBO is true, it seems Colin Farrell is stepping up and cracking speculation wide open.

"I'm doing the second series," the actor reportedly told Sunday World on Saturday, "I'm so excited."

On Sunday E! continued to investigate the claim, adding that Farrell has admitted to an eight-episode arc for the second season of the highly anticipated crime drama.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto has not confirmed the statement, nor has Farrell mentioned anything further on the subject.

While the officially casting for other parts on the show remain uncertain, the new episodes will definitely be taking place in California. It will be more heavily rooted in political and government corruption than Season 1, though it will continue with some of the program's broader themes.

The new episodes will be written by Pizzolatto, as were the episodes for Season 1, but the directors will be different. Season 1 was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who helmed every episode and even received an Emmy for his work on the show. Season 2, however, will include a number of different directors, which has led some to believe that the flow of the series will be interrupted by conflicting visions.

True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in mid-2015.
