A Bollywood actress will become the first Indian woman to pose nude for Playboy magazine.

Sherlyn Chopra told the BBC that she could not "miss the opportunity of posing nude for the world's most established adult magazine."

The 28-year-old came up with the controversial cover story idea and made the suggestion in a letter she wrote to the publication. She received a reply letter several days later accepting her offer from the magazine which is banned in her native country.

Chopra spoke to the BBC exclusively at a press conference about the upcoming controversial cover shoot.

"I have become the first Indian to pose naked for Playboy," she said, "and nobody can take away that achievement from me."

The actress, who has appeared in several Bollywood films, reportedly went on a tour of the Playboy mansion and she stayed there for a few days.

One photo has surfaced online of her posing with the magazine's founder Hugh Hefner.

"The most compassionate man on planet Earth!" she tweeted.

The announcement of the upcoming issue, slated to arrive in newsstands in November, has already stirred controversy in India.

India TV News had several negative reactions posted in their comments section of their website:

"shame to this ......, all limits of vulgarities crossed by such lowest class body sellers. these are black spot over our Indian culture and traditions boycott her and should be barred from Indian citizenzenship by taking notice of her mis acts. She has no shame to express proudness for this even vulgar exposure. shame."

Chopra has appeared in B-level Bollywood films and in reality television: "Time Pass," "Red Swastik," "Game" and the third season of "Big Boss."
