By begging! de Rossi joked with EOnline on Sunday that creator Shonda Rhimes finally picked up her phone. "She finally took the call and we had a meeting and she came up with a magnificent character for me and I could not be happier," de Rossi revealed. "Shonda Rhimes is a genius."

"I am so, so grateful to work for someone who has such a vision and such commitment to writing fantastic storylines, fantastic characters, exciting shows, fun shows to watch," she continued. She wouldn't share any information about her upcoming character, which would make her wife happy.

What Fans Can Expect From Portia's 'Scandal' Role That Ellen Doesn't Know

DeGeneres joked recently on her talk show that despite being a super fan, de Rossi won't spill anything about the top secret drama.

The host told her audience, "She is on the show and she's so excited because we're huge fans of the show. Now she knows what's going on, she's got all the information."

"She won't tell me," DeGeneres continued about de Rossi keeping secrets about Scandal. "But now I'm not gonna tell her what's on my show. 'I don't know if I danced today, Portia, I'm not sure. You're going to have to wait and watch!'"

Scandal comes back Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
