Damian Lewis was reportedly spotted on the set of Showtime's Homeland recently, sparking speculation that his character Brody is somehow alive going into Season 4.

Homeland Season 4 Airing Two-Hour Premiere Event in October

Homeland fans witnessed Brody being hanged in Iran during the Season 3 finale of the series, though many were clamoring for him to return in Season 4 regardless. Fans will be pleased to learn that he was photographed on the set of the show in Cape Town, South Africa, allegedly shooting scenes for upcoming episodes.

However, considering Brody was indeed hanged, it seems like Lewis has returned to film flashback scenes, probably with the love of his life, Carrie (Claire Danes).

Carrie, Saul, Fara & More Will Be 'Going In Different Directions' When Homeland Returns

The fourth season of Homeland is taking the show in an entirely new direction after Brody was the focus of the first three seasons. Even though his screen time was significantly reduced in Season 3, it will be a very different dynamic to not have him present.

The new episodes find Carrie living in the Middle East, functioning as Station Chief in Islamabad, Pakistan and Kabul, Afghanistan.

Danes previously discussed the loss of Lewis's Brody and how it would "dog" Carrie through the season.

"I don't think it's really going to occur to me until we start filming again and Damian's not there making fun of me in the makeup trailer," she said. "I think [Carrie] shelved a lot of feelings. And they will dog her through the season... Realistically, Brody was broken in a way he couldn't be mended. What was his place in society?"

Homeland Season 4 is set to debut Sunday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
