Leonard Nimoy has appeared in both of the rebooted Star Trek movies, but a rumor that hit the web the other day may have hinted that another original member could be joining the cast at some point soon. But yesterday, that rumor was debunked for now.

The rumor floating around was that William Shatner had a role in the next Star Trek movie in something similar to Nimoy in the last movie, as a cool little cameo for fans of the original series. But writer/director Roberto Orci said that it doesn't seem like that will happen.

Speaking with TrekMovie on Wednesday, Orci said that everything is just rumor right now and he couldn't confirm or deny it.

"Love no win scenarios. In theory, damned either way," Orci said. "Not in my interest to confirm or deny anything because it limits my options while maintaining my integrity as a truth teller. The movie is not the movie till it is in the theater. Until then, everything is a rumor."

Shatner also took to Twitter to debunk any involvement with the new movie, which he doesn't compete discount, but also doesn't say he is involved.

While it would be a nice cameo to see both Nimoy and Shatner on screen with the current incarnations played by Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine, it would seem that Orci is taking a note from former director J.J. Abrams and keeping all of those moments under a tight lip.

Star Trek 3 is expected to start filming soon for a possible 2016 release date.
