To ensure safety and privacy are kept during the ceremony, city officials have closes a walkway which fronts the Grand Canal in an effort to keep crowds away from the wedding ceremony, issuing an order on Thursday which closed all walkways that provide access to the 16th century Cavalli Palace for a minimum of two hours on Monday.

According to CBS News, the reason cited for the closure is "The George Clooney Wedding."

According to a source, city police requested the closure in an effort to prevent fans from crowding around the location and creating a safety risk, and assured that this was a measure that has been taken in the past for other public and private events.

The Palace is often used for civil marriage ceremonies, with rooms overlooking the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge.

The reception for the couple's wedding will reportedly be at the Aman Canal Grande , a canal-front hotel located on the 450-year-old Palazzo Papadopoli with rooms which range from $1600-$5200 USD, The Daily Mail reports.

Clooney is marrying Alamuddin, a human rights lawyer, in a surprise move for the actor, who has previously spoken out against plans to marry again after his failed marriage to Talia Balsam from 1989-1993.

"I haven't had aspirations in that way, ever. I was married in 1989. I wasn't very good at it. I was quoted as saying I'll never get married again pretty much right after I got divorced and then I've never talked about it since," he stated to Esquire, back in January.
