In the beginning of the new season of ABC's Once Upon a Time the Frozen sisters will be split up, leaving Elsa (Georgina Haig) lost and alone.

Theme Of Once Upon a Time Season 4: "Never Give Up On The People You Love"

As teased in the Season 3 finale of Once Upon a Time, Elsa has entered Storybrooke, fresh from Rumplestiltskin's (Robert Carlyle) vault. Separated from her sister Anna (Elizabeth Lail), Elsa will find herself scared in this new land.

"She doesn't know where she is," Haig teased to Entertainment Weekly in a new report. "It's all completely new and she doesn't have Anna with her, who is her rock. She's very scared. Dealing with her fear is something that's very difficult for her."

In the midst of her fear, Elsa creates a powerful snow monster as defense mechanism against the residents of Storybrooke.

While Elsa may be a stranger in a strange land, she actually has more in common with the complicated Storybrooke residents than she may think. Once Upon a Time executive producer Edward Kitsis told the entertainment news site that they were inspired by Elsa due to her being just as "misunderstood" as the other characters.

"They have powers they don't really understand, they know they're not like everyone else, but they have to realize that's what makes them special," Kitsis said. "What Elsa's motivation will be will be revealed in the premiere, and I don't want to spoil it, but I can tell you that she won't be a villain."

Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma on the series, told EW that her character will have a connection with Elsa after they realize that they are both fighting on the side of good.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 is set to begin Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
