She could find herself being sent to Italian prison in just a few months, but the threat of serving over 20 years for the murder of her one-time roommate Meredith Kercher doesn't appear to be bothering American Amanda Knox.

Amanda Knox Convicted Of Murder Because She's An 'Outsider' In Italy?

The 27-year-old, who was reconvicted for her roommate's murder in January and is currently facing her final appeals trial, was spotted by photographers making out with aspiring rocker Colin Sutherland in Coney Island, N.Y. over the weekend, and witnesses say the two seemed to be very much absorbed in one another.

"They were both oblivious to everything around them and only seemed bothered about each other, like a pair of teenagers," a bystander told The Sun (via Radar Online).

The two were spotted passionately kissing on the beach and boardwalk, and were later seen holding hands as they walked with an unidentified female friend while shopping for vintage clothing in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Being spotted with Sutherland appears to mean that Knox's previous relationship with Seattle based classical guitarist James Terrano has ended, though it is unclear when the two broke things off.

Though her new romance appears to be going well however, it could face a major roadblock if Knox's appeal in the case of Kercher's murder is rejected by an Italian appellate court at the end of this year.

Knox, her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and a third man, Rudy Guede were all arrested and convicted of murdering the British student in the Perugia, Italy home she and Knox were renting back in 2007. Guede, who admitted to the crime and had his case fast-tracked, has been serving a 16-year sentence in Italy.

Knox and Sollecito however, maintained their innocence and pleaded not guilty. They were convicted in 2009, but released after a successful appeal caused their convictions to be thrown out in 2011. The two were then reconvicted of the crime earlier this year, with their final chances to appeal slated for either later this year or early next year.

If their convictions are upheld, Sollecito, who remains in Italy, would immediately begin serving a 26-year sentence. Knox, who would need to be extradited to Italy in order to serve her time, would begin serving 28 ½ years.
