It looks like Emma Roberts and Evan Peters will be facing a vicious clown in the upcoming American Horror Story: Freak Show on FX.

Evan Peters' Character Will Be 'Smitten' With Emma Roberts In 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

A new plot synopsis for the fourth episode of Freak Show was released by FX this week. The episode, titled Edward Mordrake, Pt. 2, features the following plot:

"Edward Mordrake [Wes Bentley] continues his search for a Freak to add to his ghostly coterie. Elsa [Jessica Lange] tells the grisly story of her days in Germany. Jimmy [Peters] and Maggie [Roberts] have a run-in with the Twisted Clown [John Carroll Lynch]."

With Peters and Roberts' characters having a "run-in" with the evil clown, it is possible that one of them might not make it out alive.

Meanwhile, the story of Edward Mordrake continues. Mordrake was a real-life person who was diagnosed with Diprosopus, which means he had another face on the back of his head. With his inclusion in Freak Show, which is set in 1952, it seems that he will be a ghost in the series, based on the plot synopsis reading "ghostly coterie."

This would not be the first time that ghosts are featured on American Horror Story. The very first season, later titled Murder House, actually featured most of the main characters being ghosts by the end of its run.

American Horror Story: Freak Show debuts Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
