With a slew of new faces to be entering old roles in the next X-Men movie, could this mean the end for some of the newer characters as the younger actors head into the third leg of a trilogy?

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Writer Is Open To Having 'X-Men 4' Happen With Original Cast

Cinema Blend's Eric Eisenberg hypothesized on Sunday that with the massive re-casting of many roles like Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey, it could mean the end, at least for awhile, of key characters like Professor Xavier, Magneto and Mystique.

This came into thought after comments made by Apocalypse writer Simon Kinberg last week on Yahoo! when he said that this movie would be the end of a trilogy with the characters introduced in First Class.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Writer Dishes On The Future Of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine

"The thrust of Apocalypse is really to complete the trilogy we began with First Class - to complete the stories of young Raven, young Hank, younger Charles and Erik," Kinberg said.

"And complete this trilogy of four people who began the films sort of disparate and in different worlds who we've followed through the span of decades. So that'll be the thrust. There will be familiar characters and new characters that we haven't seen...ever...but it'll be the completion of what we began in First Class."

Eisenberg makes the guess that with the trilogy ending, they would hold back on movies that include James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender for awhile and focus on the new characters that will be re-introduced. He also added that with a Deadpool and X-Force movie coming up, it could mean another team would become the focus.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
