This year one costume store decided to take a guess at the most popular Halloween costumes this year, and it's no surprise more than a few favorites come straight from the movies.

Spirit Halloween is the largest store in the country to seasonally supply costumes specifically for the October holiday and according to SF Gate on Wednesday, they've gone ahead and listed their top pics for 2014.

Elsa from Disney's Frozen seems to top the list, with both child-sized and adult version of the ice queen. Close behind is Elsa's sister Anna and their magical snowman Olaf is predicted to make a number of appearances.

Also big this year are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which look to be making a significant comeback.

Alice from Disney's Alice in Wonderland remains a popular pick and has been so for a number of years, particularly amongst the college crowd.

Beyond the Disney realm, it looks like HBO's critically acclaimed Game of Thrones will also be getting some love, with costumes for Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen as common choices for adults looking to make an impression.

Spirit Halloween's predictions are backed up by research done by the National Retail Federation, which released a study on Tuesday claiming Frozen and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be amongst the most popular children's costumes.

As for adults, NRF determined Batman to be the most specific costume preference, with the more generic witch and pirate also scoring high numbers.

"It's clear people love to get creative with costumes, looking for inspiration from pop-culture and politics to history, and even make-believe and fantasy world," declared analyst Pam Goodfellow, who added that this year's number are "historic" for the purchasing of Halloween costumes.

With a wide variety of film and pop cultured inspired get-ups, trick-or-treaters and party-goers alike can expect to see quite a few elaborate costumes.
