The four new Sandler-led movies will all be streaming exclusively through Netflix, foregoing theater or home video releases. Sandler's movies rank as some of the top ones streamed on Netflix, according to Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.

Netflix will be financing for Sandler and his production company, Happy Madison Productions.

"When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only ... Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks," Sandler quipped in a statement. "Let the streaming begin!"

Netflix is currently streaming six of Sandler's movies: Happy Gilmore, Punch-Drunk Love, Anger Management, Click, Reign Over Me and Airheads.

This is yet another big push by Netflix into streaming original content and more specifically, movies. It was announced Monday that Netflix would be streaming the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel in 2015, with select IMAX theaters as the only other distributor.

The streaming site has already made a big move into television production. House of Cards and Orange is the New Black have become household names in addition to being critically acclaimed. They even got the attention of the Primetime Emmys, giving the streaming site 31 nominations in total this year.

As it stands now, there is no specific release date set for any of Sandler's new movies.
