Bravo's The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice have officially been sentenced for their extremely high profile case and the head of their legal team has revealed it is not at all what they assumed the couple would be handed.

Teresa Giudice To Critics 'Do Not Judge'

Wendy Feldman, the crisis manager for Teresa, has been pretty vocal about the reality TV cast member's legal woes even before she was sentenced.

She told Us Weekly just after the sentencing Thursday, "[It] was not expected."

Teresa was given 15 months behind bars while Joe was handed three years. Feldman pointed the blame at the legal operations.

"Sadly, our justice system has yet to find a balance between punishment and rehabilitation."

Still, Feldman added that Teresa is determined turn her life in a positive direction despite the sentence.

"It's now going to be Teresa's mission to make certain life changes and she will do so. Having said that, the lesson here as the judge has also acknowledged, is not to let certain choices define one's future."

Lots of drama and speculation surrounded the couple as they awaited their sentence. But in the end, Joe and Teresa took the blame for the fraudulent activity that lead them both in jail.

Teresa told the court before being given her sentence, "I'm so scared. I'm blessed, but today I am also humbled. I fully take responsibility for my actions. This is not how I was raised."

Joe also humbly addressed the court and said, "I stand here humiliated in front of the court and society," Joe said. "I disgraced many people. I disgraced my wife. I disgraced my daughters. I deserve blame and punishment for the poor choices I have made."
