Underwood and Brad Paisley were slated to host the CMA Awards before Underwood's September announcement that she and NHL husband Mike Fisher are expecting their first child. After all, she and Paisley have been helming the event to much success since 2008.

According to the CMA Awards head writer David Wild, a pregnant Underwood is more than they could have hoped for.

"Carrie once again provided a huge spark for us by getting knocked up," he declared in an interview with The Tennessean on Thursday. "She gave us the greatest baby gift of all and… so I think [the writing] will be a balance of how much we want to go there versus what she'll put up with."

Underwood's success at the CMA's has proven that the star's got a good sense of humor and steady comedic timing. With these talents at her disposal, she just might be all right with a few baby lines written into the show here and there. Surely Paisley would enjoy the opportunity to tease his co-host.

"Brad and Carrie are their own entity," declared Robert Deaton, who is executive producer of the CMA Awards. "That [combination] makes it unique. It's Sonny and Cher."

The 48th Annual CMA Awards will air live on ABC Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
