Kristen Stewart Robert Pattinson Speaking Again; Jodie Foster Lends Support

Robert Pattinson has finally started speaking to Kristen Stewart.

The British actor had gone into seclusion when the news broke that his girlfriend was caught cheating with married film director Rupert Sanders.

He "finally relented and has slowly started to speak to her again," according to Radar Online.

Despite Stewart's "tearful texts" and "multiple phone calls," the source revealed it is too late to repair the relationship.

"Rob just isn't going to be able to get beyond the cheating - one time or not," a source who is familiar with the pair told People magazine.

Another source claims the "Twilight" actress was "very confident" she would be able to convince Rob to work things out.

Actress Jodie Foster was reported to have been consoling Stewart during this rough time. The 49-year-old doesn't approve of the affair but told Stewart she understands that people can make mistakes.

"As soon as she heard the news, Jodie contacted Kristen to offer her support," the source told Radar Online. "They have been close friends since they starred opposite each other in the 2002 movie 'Panic Room,' and Jodie is a mother-like figure to her."

"Jodie loved Rob and is disappointed with Kristen for cheating on him," added the insider. "However, she knows at 22, she's still very young and unfortunately people make mistakes in life. She thinks Kristen will learn from this and will only grow into a more mature person because of it. She certainly has no intention of turning her back on Kristen during such a difficult period in her life."

US Weekly reported that Pattinson has been hiding out at the vacation home of actress Reese Witherspoon in Ojai, California. The Academy Award-winning actress described the home as the perfect getaway.  "It's meditative and restorative," she told ELLE DECOR. "The air is fresh, the phone isn't ringing, you can't access e-mail."

There have been other reports that Pattinson and Stewart are fighting over custody for their beloved dog Bear. Stewart will keep their cat Max but the British actor wants to keep the mixed breed dog they rescued in New Orleans.

Pattinson's next film "Cosmopolis" is an indie that will open in limited release Aug. 17.

He recently signed to star in "The Rover," a film that has a revenge story set in Australia.
