Striking new character posters for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies were unveiled over the course of this past week, featuring the heroic figures from Tolkien's mythic world in their element.

Title Change From There and Back Again Pointless?

The posters feature all the noble men and women in the movie, who are fighting the battle for the good side. The seven images include Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans), Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freedman), Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), Gandalf (Ian McKellen), and Galadriel (Cate Blanchett).

The biggest moment of the film will be the epic battle, with the enemy forces led by the dragon Smaug. It was recently revealed that the film will open with the sequence of Smaug wreaking havoc in Lake Town and he will be something of a "killing machine."

Another very interesting highlight witll be the retrun of Sauron. After Sauron made a daunting appearance in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug it is being suggested that the necromancer will return and fight the White Council. But it is also believed that the White Council will most probably defeat him.

As Thorin will lead his forces against the enemy he will be the man of the hour. Richard Armitage who plays the dwark king revealed that Thorin's real storyline will be crystallized in The Battle of Five Armies.

What might be a small disappointment for fans, The Battle of Five Armies is also going to be shorter than the first two in the trilogy.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will hit theaters on December 18.
