US Olympic swimmer, Rebecca Soni is the latest talked about swimmer for her record-breaking race during the August 1 games. Her boyfriend, Ricky Berens, is also an Olympic swimmer on the US team and won his second gold in London during a relay with Michael Phelps.

The boyfriend of Rebecca Soni may seem under the radar, but Ricky Berens is a three-time medal winning Olympian. His first win was during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

"Beijing was a dream come true," Ricky told 1st Look. He continued to describe the nerve-wrecking 4x200-Meter Freestyle relay that had him swimming in a team with Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Peter Vanderkaay. "Don't false start," Berens would say to himself.

"The race was a blur, I swam the 3rd leg, and by the time Vanderkaay was coming in we were already celebrating," he continued.

At the 2008 Olympics, Berens helped Phelps earn 8 gold medals, more than any athlete in a single Olympics. In London, he also swam with Phelps, securing his record-breaking 19th medal. Although Berens is not as sought after as Phelps, he still feels part of his accomplishments.

"Every time a commentator remarks on the feat, I'm a part of that. To be [able] to share the glory, I'm a part of something special," he says.

Beren says that now he is a "vet" to to the Olympics and he feels the pressure to bring home medals. But he doesn't let that distract him from enjoying his time at the Olympics.

"In 2008, I was the underdog. Nothing was expected of me. Now, I'm expected to perform so there's pressure not to let anyone down," Berens told 1st Look. But he also added that, "I've achieved the goal, and I have nothing else to prove now. Now, it can be fun."

Beren's girlfriend, Rebecca Soni, 25, broke a record with her 2:20.00 swim in the 200-Meter Breaststroke. The swimmer came in 2.4 seconds before the second place winner and 12 seconds ahead of the previous record-holder.

Soni was confident of her ability to make it to the finish line first.

"If I feel good, I don't want to hold back. I shouldn't. I just went for the last 50 and I started to hear the crowd halfway through and just kept going with it," the US Swimmer stated.

According to Zimbio, the Olympic swimmers have been dating since 2010.
